HEAD OF DESIGN - FRANCE

September 2021 to June 2023

Presenting Intuits’ design strategy for France and international markets at hybrid all-hands in 2022.

I joined the french office of multinational Fintech company Intuit, Inc. in September 2021 to lead all design-related activities including product design, research, content and brand design. I also became a member of France leadership team, collaborating with the directors from the other areas, as well as the country's General Manager in leading country-level strategy and cross-functional initiatives.

With my product triad peers, the country Product Management and Engineering leaders, I defined the local roadmap and managed product delivery, and launched a discovery initiative to achieve product-market fit in the accountants segment. With the other Emerging Markets product leaders (Brazil, Mexico and Australia) I launched an international research operation to find commonalities and opportunity areas for a common Emerging Markets product roadmap.

Unfortunately, my time at Intuit was cut short when the company made a shift to its international strategy which resulted in ceasing activities across all Emerging Markets (with the exception of Australia) in 2023.

UX DESIGNER - PRINCIPAL LEVEL

July 2018 to August 2021

In July 2018, I took a very senior Individual Contributor role within a flat organization at Renault Digital, the entity created to accelerate the digital transformation of the Renault Group.

My first project was One-TD, an enterprise internal tool that aimed at increasing the reuse of parts between different vehicle projects by the engineers, saving millions of dollars in the development process. This was a very complex project as it required to take into account the resistance of the highly skilled engineering professionals in embracing a complex new set of tools, as well as cultural differences between engineers from the french company Renault and the japanese company Nissan.

After ONE TD, I had the opportunity to move into B2C territory, to work on the MyRenault application, a companion app for the owners of Renault and Dacia-branded vehicles.

SERVICE DESIGN MANAGER

February 2017 to August 2017

In early 2017, I moved from Lyon to Paris and had a brief stint as a design manager at Fjord, the service design agency, which had recently been acquired by Accenture. During my 6 months there, I lead and delivered 3 projects for major clients from the distribution and energy sectors, as well as created and led several pitches for potential clients.

Sadly, the agency was still working through the organizational shift brought by the acquisition and I my role was made redundant six months later.

UX CONSULTANT

February 2016 to January 2017

I moved to Lyon, France in 2016, hired as a consultant for a fixed-term 1-year mission at Renault Trucks, owned by the Volvo AB Group. I was hired to help the company define its User Experience processes and scale up its capabilities in the design of digital experiences for its vehicles.

Before I joined the company, the vehicle clusters were defined by the electrical engineering teams with limited input from product design. The company’s Design Director sought to develop UX design capabilities within the Product Design team, in order to have a joint design strategy and language for both the physical and digital part of its products. I also worked with an external consulting agency in devising a unified digital strategy for the several brands of the AB Volvo Group (Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, and Mack Trucks)

MOVED TO FRANCE - FEBRUARY 2016

DESIGN MANAGER

August 2013 to July 2015

I was hired as Design Manager for Samsung Brazil's R&D/Content and Services, in an organization that partnered with external providers to create exclusive content and services for Samsung devices for the Brazillian market. I was responsible for ensuring the design and experience quality of the partner's apps, as well as designing our own branded products and services.

With my colleague, the R&D UX Manager for Samsung Services, we proposed and launched a UX Program within the Brazillian R&D, and recruited and led a team of 10 designers and 10 developers, dedicated to accelerate the Brazillian Samsung app ecosystem, located in a tech hub in Manaus, the capital of the state of the Amazon.

I also participated in multiple cross-functional projects and initiatives, in an advisory position as an expert in experience and interaction design, supporting teams such as marketing, product marketing, and the Product Innovation Team (PIT).

VISUAL & INTERACTION DESIGN LEAD for LATAM

February 2007 to August 2012

When the Motorola Consumer Experience Design team(CxD) decided to put a team in place in Brazil, I was invited to move from a contractor at CESAR to an internal position. I moved from my hometown of Recife to São Paulo and joined as a visual designer, moving on to become Visual and Interaction Design Lead, and managing the activities of my previous contractor team.

There, I led a number of initiatives such as the design and customization of media for the Latin American market (wallpapers, icons, UI skins), for both the company and for its carrier partners. I supported the product marketing team in the launch of over 100 products in the Latin America region and designed multiple applications destined for the regional market.

October 2004 to January 2007

INTERACTION DESIGNER

My time as a freelancer ended when I was hired as an interaction designer by the CESAR Institute, a software development and R&D center from my hometown of Recife, to work as a contractor on a number of projects for Motorola.

FREELANCE WEB & GRAPHIC DESIGNER

July 1999 to September 2004

After enrolling in the Bachelor's of Graphic Design program at the University of Pernambuco in my hometown of Recife in 1998, I had a couple of internships in digital agencies which then led to a few years as a freelance web designer, building in HTML, CSS, Javascript and Actionscript/Flash.
